Earlier in the summer, Schrader mentioned that he had written a screenplay, titled “Three Guns at Dawn,” and that he wanted Antoine Fuqua to direct it.
The script, set in Los Angeles’ South Central, concerns three brothers — a dirty cop, a serial killer, and a d*** dealer — who hate one another.
There’s now an intriguing update on “Three Guns at Dawn”. Fuqua, who is also the producer, sold the script to Netflix, and seems to think Schrader should direct. The problem is that Schrader fears he’s going to get accused of “cultural appropriation” if he directs a film concerning three African-American brothers in an all-black neighbourhood.

Concept is interesting. Fuqua is a hack imo so I’d rather Schrader just do it

Dude been coasting off it 20 years

It’s really just due to David Ayer having a good script every once in a blue moon and great great acting
Fuqua sucks. Need Paul to take the reins
A Paul script and Paul as the head director, really not much room to f*** up.
Just shut up, drink ya water, nod when Paul asks for ya approval on something and collect your “directors” credit
If Schrader doesn't direct on some dragged across concrete s***, I'm not watching.
Is Fuqua the only black director Paul Schrader knows or something? Love Paul, but that choice ain't it

He loves his work
Wym??
The plot sounds like the film "dragged across concrete" to me a little bit, or seems as if it might be similar due to Paul's worry of "appropriation if he directs it".
Dragged across concrete is a crime noir epic by the dude who did bone tomahawk and brawl in cell block 99, has Vince Vaughn, mel Gibson, Michael Jai white, etc. true classic, highly recommend it

Buddies with Spike IIRC

I’ve seen it just didn’t know how Paul was tied in. But I feel you.
