Oh whoops my fault. I misremembered what he said about writing a “Purple Rain” type album to go along with a movie from 2015.
The way he talked about his vision for the tour this time around sounded f***ing amazing, F*** this pandemic
wonder what he rated Burning on Letterbox 🤔
those B&W photos look super weird to me lmao
maybe it's cause he never smiles like that
"I mean, we were all eighteen-year-old blip-blip kids, as you call it.” (He means blipster.)

I think the MJ thing was in context of they were setting him up for a failure in terms of trying to compare him to the greatest with only his first hit.
I dont get your rebranding comment tho.
That Calvin track is nothing out of the ordinary,
I just see it as keeping the momentum and success of AH.
Hes always embraced that villain role in his music ngl.
I see it as hes getting older, maybe the way of thinking is maturing?Idk tho.
Sorry for the weird grammar i cant seem to turn on my english today
What I took from that is that the media was setting him up to be unfairly criticized/shit on by people who will read the MJ comparisons and instantly freak out due to it being such a large claim. Abel has said that he doesn’t want to be the next MJ or Prince before, so he probably doesn’t appreciate those comparisons tbh
Side note, I really don’t get rapey vibes from initiation... Grimey group s***for sure but nothing forced imo
If he rebrands, would you think thats a good decision?
Im on board tbh, that Calvin single sounds great.
Would really enjoy him exploring some more bold areas like ballads, slow jams etc,
Nothing forced tho,let it come naturally, kinda like MJ with his later more agressive sound.
Also thats a bonus, there is always this new PC culture where people get overly sensitive about lyrics and stuff.
I still think After Hours was him executing a balance though
Blinding Lights is yeah absolutely massive, but once you press play on the album it's instantly clear that he isn't chasing pop hits
I honestly don't think After Hours would have had the commercial and critical success it has had if it were just Starboy 2.0 - It strikes a masterful balance between his original sound and his sound that dominates the charts

AH is not dominating charts
in my opinion that balance he decided to use was the downfall of the album's commercial success
"I want to write a whole album for a female artist"
Wonder if he's writing for Ariana lately lol. She doesn't deserve that tho
