Well of you claim that black women voices are not uplifted enough, that Dave Chappelle not mentioning a black women victim (in this 30min bit) somehow proofs that... How will we know when the uplifting is equal, should he have made sure to mention 3 black men, 3 black women and 3 transwomen to make it equal

It's not about equations its about speaking on the issue of Black people as a whole and speaking on Black life including the lives of women. Black women are part of Black mens lives and suddenly their life experiences of these issues never show that.

Ironically you’re the ones ignoring his pro-black message and making it about women because you are one. So yes, that’s narcissism.

But why is this grand moral stance (not to say this isn't normal, I believe that representing black pain in it whole is necessary) bestowed on Dave Chapelle when he lacks it thus forcing a critique but ignored when other people with big platforms do it thus deserving some props (in my opinion)

And he feels pain towards Black life right? Women are in that but made no mention. That should cause pain and hurt but was not visible.

He talked about in this special ..

    • 8:46 being connected to Floyd and his birth

    • Garner being from Staten Island like his wife, around the time his son was born

And he mentioned Trayvon and Brown in passing (PASSING) literally barely anytime spent on them.

So the the two people he emphasized in the special had a personal connection to him and other two who didn't got mentioned quickly.

So the personal nature of this whole segment is obvious, and what he chose to focus had other factors which made him care more to mention them.

Now I asked you, what significance or difference would it make if you mentioned Taylor in passing like Trayvon and Brown?

That's why I'm telling you your criticism is unfounded. It misses the point of the personal nature of topic.

It's not a grand moral stance, I merely discussed the special which is what he chose to make about a heavy subject and a black woman was recently killed even and I found that to be part of a greater issue.

We didn't ignore his message. None of us said "Fuck Dave for mentioning Black men", yall assumed we did not respect that part of his message because we were critical of a lack of inclusion.

Mentioning her means a Black womans death crossed his mind one while discussing Black death.

the real question is why do you need a man to speak for you? There aren't enough black female advocates to hold their own?

See now this s*** is borderline trolling. Why do only black women need to be vocal about how black women are treated? You’re clearly out of your depth speaking on this topic and saw someone critiquing your idol Dave and ran to make some nonsensical post to defend him.

Michael Brown and Trayvon were the biggest stories leading up to Floyd in police violence and that's not Dave's fault so whats your point.

  • Jun 14, 2020

Like i see people in this thread not disagreeing with what I'm saying but reverting to something which amounts to saying Dave cares less about women

  • Jun 14, 2020

Which @Nightmares is explicit about while beck is less so.

I can't change y'all minds on that nor is it my job. I think the discussion is going no where and I tried to explain the purpose of the special the best I can to y'all, so peace. No bad vibes on this side, your feelings are yours to feel about the man.

A black woman, breonna Taylor, was recently killed yes. However, you're not the comedian Dave Chapelle is, tell me how he should have included her death into his experience, he prefaced that special by saying that it was unrefined but yet had a more important message, that stuck out to me about the whole situation. What is mentioning a person simply based on gender going to change (he could have he didn't and we don't know why and you charge him with '' erasure of black women")
Moreover, others with platforms make sure to mention situations that include black women lives lost and i don't think that they do this because of the gender of the victim, aside from historians and all of the documentation that we have of those events. How can you speak of "erasure"

It does more than complaining about what someone said in a YouTube video. I don’t know what beef you have with Dave (and you obviously have one) but him not mentioning a Black woman is a non-issue

It's kind of telling that you all seem to think the experience of this man is just normal to include no Black women and that somehow we are forcing Black women into the subject and they don't fit. This went from a discussion of people telling me it was for Black people and suddenly his special is just all too personal in experience for him to mention a Black woman even in passing like the others he mentioned because it's "his mind" and he is trying to only be relatable.

It's unrefined and thats fine, but it's also a body of work that has the ability to be criticised. I'm not saying mention Black women just because they are women. It's not simply based on gender it's about the fact those are Black lives lost and as a Black man who has Black women in his life not once did it cross his mind, you were so keen so show me that he mentions Black women in his mind and now I'm just forcing Black women into his face.

It's not about hating Dave, we never said anything about "Fuck Dave" or some s*** that was about us hating him. Mulder said she is a fan of his work. Y'all made it like we have a personal vendetta against this man on yall own.

What is a non issue to you can be an issue to someone else, we discussed that issue and suddenly we are "thots" with "twitter education".

“ You aren't supporting Black women if you don't amplify their voices and struggles, that is not gross it is reality.”

The problem is that you’re saying because someone didn’t do something at this time then they never cared about women. That’s not how anything works. Should he have mentioned women? Probably. Because he didn’t is he a bad person? C’mon

I'm talking about this special yes, what is the problem with me finding that issue here if it's on subject? I never mentioned anybody "never caring about Black women" I discussed this special.

All I discussed is that Black women should be heard, you saying probably basically means you see what I mean but you think I'm doing this as a hate train when I never once displayed that about Dave.

It is though, I think it's normal pattern for Dave Chapelle to talk about issues using the news. Also he talked about black women just not the ones you wanted him to talk about, him speaking against Candace Owen's was more interesting than a hashtag. The lost lives of black women are documented in history books and honored by several artists, content creators, activists therefore THEY'RE VOICES ARE HEARD.

Talking abut Candace Owens isn't talking about the violence of Black women it's not the equivalent of speaking on Black life that is harmed.

I don't know why you want me to stop complaining that Black womens voices are not heard enough cause clearly they arent when everytime BLM comes up we have to keep fighting too. Documentation isn't a discussion that fuels change, there is a disparaging amount compared to men when its about Black women.
