Hearing him talk about how long the cop was on Floyd's neck and 8:46 being his TOB + Kobe's jersey #'s being his bday kinda hit me different

Idk man s*** sounds goofy but

from the bird revelation to 8:46, his ability to so quickly come with an iconic special not directly after, but DURING a historic moment, is incredible

wasn’t even mad there weren’t a ton of jokes because it’s not many jokes you can make about this uprising

the artfulness imo comes from his ability to still weave these different parallels from his life to the deceased people he’s speaking about.

the bit about how black members of the military went haywire and killed cops because they thought they were fighting terrorism is nothing short of genius. even with his ending words about how this all may end with extreme violence, it’s so right. he really tapped into the hopelessness me and all my niggas been feeling. because as he said, it’s so obvious but people are still tryna act like they don’t understand.

and the bit about celebrities. i know if he was in a venue and it was a different time, that ja rule callback would have MURDERED. he’s right too, some people have been begging for celebs to speak but i honestly don’t care what a lot of them have to say. it’s time for the people to speak. i did want to hear what dave would because he’s a very insightful person. same reason i wanna hear what chris rock and kendrick have to say.

Someone said its most similar to the bird revelation, that really serious special that opened his netflix line (I think)...I think its even more serious than that. I was engaged the whole time, and definitely found quite a few things humorous, but its not aiming to tell a single joke tbh

the fact that Dave managed to tie it all back to his Father's death-bed moment like it was any other comedy segment is f***ing nuts
