They loaded up the soundfont bank for this one. Sf2 files coming back in style would warm my inner child’s garageband heart

Nigga you so real. I was wondering why it had “that” sound and exactly. I lowkey forgot all about soundfonts lmaoo bc of how primitive they feel compared to a newer VST

I still wanna hear whatever u was talking about fr just as a music meddler

they used a lot of spacey arps+pads and hollow pianos/plucks early in their careers that are common in early 3d games and the op, especially james

theyre just not as aggressive for the most tho

Lyrically im not in disagreement i can just appreciate niggas doing/trying some new s*** with the beats

But you’re on point with how its either “you have to like every new wave” or you washed

I can definitely see how you clicked the second one and one can go “nigga what the f***” 🤣

Only so much further you can take it when the verse form has fully descended into persona-narrative curation and away from an emphasis on linguistic athleticism, either in the text itself (ie bigging up one’s own MC finesse) or the style. Only so much further you can take it when the verse form is built off of little more than “I been”/“ima”/“I just”/“She gon”/“she wanna”

Btw we’ve only come here because NWA won the war against Eric B & Rakim for what rap verse standards were in terms of style of expression and form

i think the issue is how literal or upfront most rappers are with lyrics nows

barely any imagination, metaphorical, pucture paintings, exaggerations/expressive/flamboyant or symbolism with their lines and rhymes

especially when it comes to s***or violence

no room to do anything when youre being very literal or very blunt about everything

What I’m noticing now is just that either peoples taste has gone to s*** collectively or they have fomo so act like they understand every new wave cause saying something is trash online when it clearly is just gets you called an oldhead lol.

Reality gonna hit them young niggas like a ton of bricks in 5 years when they play this s*** back 😂

Yup and that mentality is a breeding ground for wack music

That said, I actually kinda like the beat on the second song
