Word. I like that style when it works but i havent peeped the album. Have a feeling the production is gonna be super ass. Never been a Swizz fan

Only heard a few songs but the production was definitely a down point

And that's not bc it's "outdated", it's definitely worse produced than his 1st album

The beat for the Nas and Jay collab was flat out bad

@Goo @Teal_ imo the main thing this was missing was X’s hooks. Early in his career he was a beast with the hooks and it was the main part of him having so much raw energy. Swizz just doesn’t cut it

Feel like I should’ve heard more about this, people ain’t even talking about the Nas and Jay track like that. Casuals already done mourning?

Haven’t heard it yet. Damn they let DMX down that bad with this project?

  • May 28, 2021

so that one dude was right about the old 2012 Skyscrapers track getting the kanye feature changed to a DMX one, huh

headphones listen was brutal last night and really disappointing...listening again today and it's not bothering me as much but there's no denying the mixing/engineering on this record is flat out terrible at times and does a real disservice to X because he's still giving us some solid verses...the voice change doesn't matter as much to me...people get old and voices change...he's still X and still has that passion when he needs it but the mixing is just not there...production also leaves something to be desired on quite a bit as well as the lack of X hooks that he was known for

I dig the song with The LOX, Bath Salts vocals sound weird and the beat is iffy but it's not awful IMO, Wayne song is alright...Griselda song is dope but again X's vocals sound terrible compared to the others...the Snoop and Nas collabs later on in the album are really strong as well as the Letter to my Son track...not a total miss IMO but as a goodbye album for and from DMX I can't help but be a little disappointed in the end result and feel like they should have spent more time polishing his vocals...maybe they wanted to just put it out as it was for the rawness or some s*** but IMO it does a disservice to X

This album was decent to say the least.

DMX was clearly past his prime vocaly and somewhat lyrically on this album.

The guest verses were the highlights of this album especially the Wayne and Moneybag Yo verses.

I didn't mind the old school production but the mixing was pretty bad on some of the songs.

Overall I'd give this album 6/10, RIP DMX

Idk why y’all acting like this ain’t the best DMX album in nearly 20 years

Some of his verses are a lil off but it’s a lot more listenable than I expected it to be

On some of these he ALMOST sounds like his old self

song with Snoop, song with LOX, song with Wayne, song with Nas, Letter to my Son

Bath Salts worth a listen just to hear those 3 together despite the production and mixing being iffy as f***

They butchered the Bath Salts track & cut Jada out wtf

Finally get the song & its half of what it was years ago in the preview

I think the Nas verse might be different too

    X's verse still hard tho

Better than his last two albums which is all i wanted, but a lot of those Swizz back up vocals & bridges could have easily just been done by X lol

Wonder if some was unfinished cuz usually Swizz is not all over X's tracks like that as a vocalist

Second half has no skips. I think it‘s enjoyable for a posthumous album even though the first half is mid (besides That‘s My Dog). The only problem is it doesn‘t sound like a DMX album - it‘s more like Swizz Beatz, DMX, his friends and Moneybagg Yo.

The Lil Wayne feature is dumpster juice btw

Only tracks I'm really coming back to is Take Control and Walking In The Rain.

  • May 28, 2021

Tracks with Snoop and Griselda were the best songs imo

  • May 28, 2021

the smooth, laid back tracks like walking in the rain are the standouts

Song is from 2017 but might have been re-recorded. Initially was for Swizz producer album poison in 2018.
Entire song was gutted and redone they didn’t even keep nas saying this the bath salts song

    Think jay verse old tho

jay's vocals sound 8-10 years old. even the production screams wtt beat pack

damn, you're right. that was absent from this. also, i wanna hear a X album, not a DMX & friends album, and as blasphemous as this may sound, i don't want swizz producing any of it either
