Be fair. Most casual listeners aren’t invested in this at all and want a fun song and to be entertained.

Drake isn’t hated by the general population - folks just want good music and they got it in some form or fashion: one might appeal more given its earworminess.

Nah, it better happen. Drake did it with CLB this decade and they're insisting Kendrick is now the #1 guy in rap and he has a bucketload of new fans thanks to this beef so they better show up to support his new album the same way they're supporting his diss tracks.

The memes are part of his digital marketing strategy at this point. “Drake is a meme” could be negative pre-2015, but since then, between Hotline Bling, Anita Max Wynn, Stake partnership, etc. - the memes have been an integral part of how Drake connects with his fanbase and raises brand awareness, not the negative part of it.

If anything, a smart publicist would tell him to make his presence sparse, work on the music, and return next summer. The general population typically has a very short memory given how quickly the news cycle moves, and he’d return with a LOT more goodwill in 8-10 months.
