Respond to claims that you're exploiting social issues for profit, by continuing to exploit social issues for profit.

'Snow on the Bluff' by J. Cole available on all streaming services now.

Should Cole have read the room and realised you can’t / shouldn’t critique black woman in this climate?

Even if there’s some truth he’s gonna feel some backlash and black female backlash aint what you want especially right now.

feel like he was just venting

Bro you thought he's Willie D from Geto Boys?

Lol mehn you know I was joking lol. I he didn’t even spell it right. I wasn’t just pulling his leg.

This not being able to critique black women thing will never stick by the way. It’s unrealistic. Especially since even if every black man stops doing it. White women and white men will still do it. Fair critique should be accepted.

  • Don’t even need to click play to know that this will be dope af. Despite what KTT says, Cole barely misses.

Cole really summing up my feelings on the extreme woke movement that's been surging over the past couple of years.

There seems no room for patience, nuance and context. Irks the s*** out of me.

most austrailians/UK inhabitants I know online super racist

i agree with that statement myself aussies generally love to put s*** on so many cultures does not matter if your black, indigenous, islander, ethnic, asian etc

i have seen just in my local area hate crimes against chinese citizens just because corona virus started in china. I don't need to bring up cronulla riots which just bunch drunk bogans bashing innocent people just because they were ethnics its quite sad

Black women literally weeks ago. You can critique public ally then expect a response in private when it came to the racist Karen lady.

  • Jun 17, 2020

Hip Hop has gotten soft though. This is why there will always be a distinction with the men and women of the culture.

  • This nice. Can imagine it an album for sure.

her critique was that everybody's favorite woke rappers (probably referring to Cole and Kendrick) were radio silent, which is/was true.

Cole's critique of her is that she's thinks she is holier than thou, which is kinda a lame shot at her since she started a book club to help educate black youth and is doing more than just talking.

If I thought Cole made this song maliciously I'd have less of a problem with it, funny enough. Cause I love rap beef, but I think Cole's heart was in the right place, so I think instead of coming at her this way he should have had a conversation with her and try to educate himself

But you see that’s the ironic part. Cole is also doing more than just talking. Cole bailed out very protestor at the protest he attended. He also has given millions of dollars. Her critique was personally bbexsue she haven’t seen what they did and that’s not a fair critique. She said the same about Beyoncé and when Beyoncé sent her clothes she changed her energy. I don’t respect that. Plus she is a rapper and this is hip hop. Women complain that they are entreated Different but this is exactly why.

It is nice and all but can you even call this a song? It feels more like a poem tbh

I get that Cole has been doing stuff (wasn't aware of bailing out protesters personally) but he should be using his platform too.

My issue with Cole's song has nothing to do with Noname being a woman. I don't think she's immune from critique. Critique is actually how she started the book club cause she had a tweet about capitalism (forget what it was exactly) and she was corrected.

Under different circumstances I would love to see Noname and J Cole exchange diss songs, it would be good for rap imo. But now is not the time, they should have a Livestream or something like what Noname did with Boots Riley

i mean he obviously believes in the message he put out so why would he worry about getting backlash from it?

I agree but isn’t that also an indictment on NoName. Her first tweet was counterproductive. Her saying that added nothing but a half day of twitter headlines and temporarily distracted from the mission. That’s all I’m saying, she can’t expect to critique someone’s level of “caring”
Especially when J Cole has shown numerous times that he does care. It seems counterproductive to me. And if we are being real her reach is in the thousands. Cole is in the million she is lent benefitting from attacking him on a silly accusation like this when if she linked up with him she couldn’t reached more people.

Also Marcus Garvey already spoke on roles and how they are perceived. NoName isn’t a millionaire. But miney is needed for the cause but if she goes around attacking every millionaire because of her views on capitalizing its starting to become counterproductive.

In the fight for anti-black racism, black people need other races to be able to be successful

Not the fight for gender equality, women need men to be successful

And in the fight for gay liberation, the lgbtq community needs straight folks as allies.

We can’t do this ourselves. And Cole is one of the ones that cares. So many rappers rap about bullshit l but the two she critique happen to be the ones with pulses.

you're right, Noname's initial critique was kinda lame, but I agree with it 100%. it might not apply to J Cole 100%, but there are a lot of "woke" celebs everybody loves who ain't doing s*** right now. And Cole/Kendrick could be using their platform better to be sharing petitions and s*** like that.

She probably could've hit Cole up privately but her initial critique doesn't only apply to him, however she probably should have used her connections and pulled strings to get people like Cole to better use their platform.

i think if you cant make this song then whats the point of anything

it feels like a conversation, he spends half the time complimenting her and acknowledging his own faults and self doubt

amazing flows, great writing, this is art.
