Fubu is a black owned brand sold for cheap, but was also mocked by people, although many hood niggas even myself had and rocked die to it being cheap and accessible

It literally means "for us by us" and if im not mistaken its the only successful indie black clothing brand (which later doesnt become indie) - and a big part of the brands image is to "build yourself up" and "build the community up"

While tommy hilfiger is more expensive especially back in the day, seen as "white" clothes with images of beaches, and was never down or cool in the "hood", and the brand puts on its back a laid back carefree attitude

So its a multi layered critique while also doing a ref that only certain will get

Most people probably just think hes only talking about clothes lmao

Theres a lot to fubu and its impact on the culture

Which also the bar can even be seen as a silber spoon critique besides just a "you aint really down" critique

Hilfiger for the ones that are already set and can already afford it & live (relatively) carefree, much like the brand - while fubu is for the ones of the poor and outcast that have to build themselves up - much like the brand

Lotta yapping but yeah the bar is hard and means a lot

Sidenote: the fubu creator later on did f*** s*** and later on became a scammer f*** that nigga but thats besides the point and not part of og fubu lmao

Not really, Push Ups is not a good example of being layered in comparison to this lol.

Not to say Drake can't do it but man there's levels when comparing the 2 tracks.
