Jesus Christ you’re being obtuse Sir
Many people are when it comes to the word cultural apropriation. They think respecting a culture. Paying homage to it. Celebrating it is terrible. No I think its dope Japan or other countries have low rider gatherings. S*** I was just watching a Japanese dance hall competition and have been all week
there is a difference between that and PARODY/CARICATURE
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5R5VCkRLUQthere are korean and japanese dancers that compete in dancing to our music while showing it the most love
That’s just your opinion. The definition doesn’t change
Walking into this thread is like seeing two homeless ppl argue outside a gas station
I just need mov in here
give up man lol he just trolling and it gives cutie pie the "lets talk about it " hit thread they wanted in the first place
Sunday mornings used to be about Church, God , Rest, getting ready for the week not cheap drama threads where you can tell op doesnt even care about the music
Just wanted to know where he stood, I got my answer now.
Also this isn't drama to me lol
You don’t think Chic & CL genuinely loves rap?
CL raps are not the caricature that the raps in OP are. Because of the lyrical content ( not saying its the greatest writing) but she isnt pretending to be drill or pretending to be someone that she isnt.

Ok but @Swayzomad literally disagrees with this
I am the only consistent point going here
It’s appropriation by your f***ing standards
A dominant culture stealing from a minority culture
You just made up a standard for me and then decided to argue against it
Have a good day trolling bro
Can you just explain the erasure point because that isn’t a characteristic of cultural appropriation by definition
take for example right now the saxophone getting louder, how many people using that in clips and as a saying to their friend f***ing up that it came from Boyz in the Hood? that erases the context of the joke while appropriating the culture
That’s just your opinion. The definition doesn’t change
"thats just your opinion"
well yes its a forum.
everything I type is my opinion
it isnt a caricture they arent faking a black accent. they arent in black face. They arent like lets throw on some black clothes throw money around. Hold guns and where buffs
I think you all fundamentally have different grievances here
no we just notice you are a blatant troll

Agreed again, usually the dancers have a very good understanding and appreciation, the musicians not so much.

I think that’s interesting because there isn’t a clear line of profit here
There is no one becoming advantaged from this
It is just a sad case of credit being appropriated and a cultural artefact being erased. I agree with you here. I just don’t think this is going on here or at least not yet
In either case of chick in OP or RDC
Ok but @Swayzomad literally disagrees with this

I listen to CL on and off. There is a difference for me than what OP does. if Swayzomad feels differently thats fine there is no universal answer. We all have free will there is no collective black conciousness. Some could think dancehall at all existing in Japan should be shut down and that there is no way Japanese people appreciate black culture and that all culture should be separated . I dont operate that way nor is that what I am saying and I have made this clear to you for over a hour. Even saying I listen to rap in other languages and cultures. Even posting Hikaru Utada timbaland records. How I appreciate when that happens
s*** kohh is on NIKES
but SOME OF IT FEELS GENUINE TO ME SOME DOESNT
IF WHAT IS IN OP FEELS GENUINE TO YOU AND YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO MORE THAT IS DOPE ENJOY

CL does all these things

You just like it when a bad b**** does it

The line of profit is gaining cultural currency for your platform while not even being able to speak to the culture you got said notoriety from as you don’t even know where it originated
that’s much different than RDC sitting around nerding out about anime then representing it within their own context
CL does all these things

its mixed throughout her career. Sometimes I think she is worse than others. I dont consistently listen to her and part of why I eventually fell off because I didnt get a feeling that it was fully genuine or that she had enough to say or create. Same reason she hasnt really toured or created a concept album.
black American cultural dominance is never recognized once it’s fully appropriated, that’s why I’m saying black people engaging in appreciating other cultures do not go about the same erasure as these other groups (white/asians) do so trying to compare RDC appreciating anime to appropriation doesn’t make sense to me
I think we are very respectful of cultures. The Nigeria x Puma drop the other day was a great example of this. But I’m not trying to single out Black people - like I said I mention RDC because I couldn’t name a white comparison. American culture is the culture appropriating here
Cutepiehole just f***in giggling layin on their belly kicking their feet in the air at the state of this thread
CL I have only heard the album with Spicy on it
