About time tbh. Wife is Middle Eastern and I’m Hispanic. We both were white in the previous Census.

They’ve asked Hispanic or Latino separately for as long as I can remember

There was an “ethnicity” section where it asked yes or no for “Hispanic/Latino” was but it was a separate question from race

need it or keep it ?

There are barely any races outside of white and black

Its usually just "other"

And in the south south/west they specifically single out latino/hispanic

This is from the census to other official fourms like the doctors

And if youre mixed it breaks the system

They are really officializing “Hispanic/Latino” as a race ☠️

Why can’t they just add Mestizo when that’s literally what they mean by Hispanic/Latino

Because that would splinter the political salience of Hispanic identity instead of further consolidating it
