A latina on youtube actually explained how it's disrespectful too. In Spanish, we learned that a group of girls is latinas. Group of guys is latinos. If there is one guy, it's always latinos. So a group of 6 girls and 1 guy is latinos. therefore, the correct way always was and always will be latinos. But of course us Americans just have to tell someone how to speak their own language.
