Damn this came out a year ago today
Or yesterday depending on where you are
Crazy how fast this year is creeping up mannnnn
Lost my s*** when I heard that title track
Lost my s*** when I heard that title track
Yeah that first listen was absolutely insaneeeee
Imagine if it stayed an album cut?!
Would’ve actually lost my mind
My darkest hours
Girl, I felt so alone inside of this crowded room
Different girls on the floor, distracting my thoughts of you
I turned into the man I used to be, to be
Put myself to sleep
Just so I can get closer to you inside my dreams
Didn't wanna wake up 'less you were beside me
I just wanted to call you and say, and say
My darkest hours
Girl, I felt so alone inside of this crowded room
Different girls on the floor, distracting my thoughts of you
I turned into the man I used to be, to be
Put myself to sleep
Just so I can get closer to you inside my dreams
Didn't wanna wake up 'less you were beside me
I just wanted to call you and say, and say
That intro
The drop
That drum pattern
Those lyrics
Those 6 minutes
I remember thinking the whole album was gonna sound like the title track, that woulda been dope

This track is honestly top 5 discog for me. Possibly even top 3.
Just the perfect mesh of everything good about The Weeknd; the groggy initial minute of fuzzy manipulated vocals, the ominous build-up to the drop with that naughty synth slithering throughout, and the vulnerability displayed on verses 2 and 3. Very dancing with tears in my eyes. And I’m all here for it.
Someone referred to this track as audio cocaine and I swear I’ve never seen a more apt comparison. Shortest 6 minutes of my life every time I press play.

This song has felt like both the longest and the shortest song I’ve ever heard.

Most disappointed I’ve ever been was after listening to this album and realising we got some pop bullshit instead of a album full of masterpieces like this song.

I get it’s your opinion but dwindling After Hours down to “pop bullshit” is such a lazy criticism lol
5/17 songs does not constitute the entire album being pop bullshit

Idk bout you, but the after hours I bought on release had 14 songs. Putting a big streak of pop songs in the middle of the album made it feel like a drag and made me feel completely unimeressed. + the pop songs on after hours are way worse than the majority of his pop hits on Starboy and BBTM
