Man this get no promo at all?!?

i remember i read in a interview the reason Sleepy brown didn’t release music

i thought he was going to say “ i was blacklisted, they shelved my projects!!“ i had so much heat!!”

that’s usually the answer to that question.

But he said i was spending a lot of time in strip clubs & you get lost in there fast

That kind of opened my eyes that Mr Brown was telling the truth. He just looked up and realized he only had 3 solo projects and spent too many years in the club

    😳

i didn’t even think that the music was reflecting his life as a recording artist

You go back to his first project - he’s talking about going to the clubs

it all checks out. Now i think the blessing and the curse - he wouldn’t have created the music with organized noize and dungeon fam without the club experience in Atlanta. That’s a big inspiration for that energy

BUT it’s a place where it’s hard to get out because like casinos , clocks are seldom seen

Music was kind of his escape from partying and his dad - Jimmy Brown was a king of atlanta party music - BRICK

A very underrated r&b soul funk band signed to a major label

Without Jimmy i don’t think sleepy would be in bands or singing-writing-recording He saw how bad ass his dad was on the band stage

But i think when we see the gap- some artists are just slow in releasing music and others can just focus like a laser & distractions can’t stop them

But it doesn’t explain D’angelo and he has less projects than Sleepy.

i guess some artists are happy with a listening of 1 with their work

I like that he was honest. Too many niggas use the blacklisted excuse to make those guys feel better than they were.
