I think we all just want Drake to make the best music possible. For some fans, that means pushing himself to new territories, for some other fans, they're perfectly okay with getting the same regurgitated songs.

so what u saying is that drake's experimental songs do get mad hate from time to time right?

bc thats the only thing im pointing out lol. u cant just post the experimental songs that were loved and say that all of em get the same treatment without talking about the ones that didnt lol.

another experimental song that wasn't well received for u

This song was terrible. NO ONE cared for this song. It was so badly received that it didn't even chart. Many fans didn't even acknowledge it existed, even on this site.

Most of his experimental songs are very well-received and that's a fact. Bringing up the ONE case that's different doesn't disprove that.

Except those songs were never appreciated to begin with, I don’t understand your point

If Drake hops in a genre that isn’t well received he’s going to get hate regardless of how good the song is

People didn’t appreciate War because it was a bad song, they didn’t appreciate it because US consumers don’t care for UK drill

    You’re bringing up one case

People in this thread are taking this way too seriously. Its a song that leaked. Its more than likely not the final version, and there is absolutely no confirmation that this is on the album. Can we just be happy we got a great Drake track and drop the negativity? Its always the same thing in these threads.

Even if you count War as an experimental song that didn’t work out, he’s still received way more success when doing something different than negative tho

I've also seen people warm up to War because of what he was rapping about. His US fanbase doesn't care for the UK-inspired songs. That much is known. He can keep dabbling in that style if that's what he wants, but he should just know that those songs will never take off in the US because that's isn't what that audience wants from him.

In what world did those songs come with hate? Those were essential summer jams. One Dance was #1 for 10 weeks in the US. It topped US overall radio. It was the first song to be streamed 1B times on Spotify and it did that within 8 months. That's not a song that's hated.

Controlla was well-received from when it leaked with the Popcaan verse.

I don't understand this revisionist history. Work/One Dance/Controlla were inescapable in the summer of 2016 and they were hailed as some of the best songs of the year by critics.

“Culture vulture” hate by some of the same publications that deemed the songs good

This is when “culture vulture” was all over the place for Drake which is what I think Quadra is talking about

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they hated the songs themselves. They just didn't like that Drake made them and those people should never be taken seriously. Those same critics are the ones who gave More Life good reviews for the same songs they called him a culture vulture for on Views.

Yeah, I get that now. I thought they meant that people hated the songs when they dropped because that wasn't the case at all.

People have been hating on Drake since day 1. That's nothing new, lol.

Yes. I prefer that, to be honest. It's been nice seeing people grow to appreciate Views more. Also, when you do something different and people eventually grow to love and appreciate it, it shows that you made the right decision and that you were forward thinking, as opposed to doing the same things over and over again.
