. I'm a music producer and i can tell you for a fact those party songs are not an easy thing to do, specially the news. I dont see how some 80's style track with bright synths and simple pop melodies that we have heard a million times are better than atmospheric pnd .I dont care about pop, dark or whatever, i care about originality. Weeknd doing pop fails hard at this. Only decent pop songs he has are "secrets" "lonely night" "nothing without you" and "i feel it coming". Anything else is trash.
If he gonna do generic music it better be dark at least instead of that basic white s***.

that "atmospheric" PND sound got more stale in 2016 than even the synth funk revival has. also synth funk isn't a white sound

serenadehopefully he goes fully into the synth pop sound on this album and doesn't water it down with mediocre trap songs like he did on starboy. i need a pop masterpiece from abel, not another round of him trying to satisfy everyone at once.
this. the snippet doesn't really do anything for me and we can't hear much, but if this is the sound he's going for then go all in. get back to the cohesive and seamless works of art that he made his name on.
