It’s so funny the different caliber of music and “mid”
Ye is mid now because creatively he still has good musical ideas but he fails to get them to their highest level possible, to their “MBDTF” level of song progression and sonic highs.
Drake is mid now cause he recycles the same flows, subject matter, vocal Melodies, and has failed to do anything interesting that will outlast the 2 year period in which its released, for the past 3 or so years.
A Drake bar applies heavily here imo:
“ I went from top 5 to remaining 5, my favorite rappers either lost it or they ain’t alive”
At least ye is trying , can’t say that about the others

Ye is naturally blessed with great musical taste, he doesn’t even have to try.
I would argue he isn’t trying at all: he’ll get the musical idea, record it, throw some other artists on it, move some things around and it’s “done”.
Ye is trying when it comes to fashion, design, and other humanitarian things, which that’s awesome.

TLOP has great moments but overall the tracklist is a mixed bag, he updated and changed the album so much even after it released
I think it holds alot of nostalgia for people though
It's not a terrible album but it doesn't have the focus that his previous albums had
