Has anyone spent New Years Eve in NYC? I have some friends living there who invited me to hang with them, it's a 4 hour drive but if it'll be fun I'm considering it. What is there to do besides bars though?

Not going to the ball drop btw, always seemed to me like a waste of time standing around for hours just to see a ball be lowered for a minute
