Because it helps improve the team. No future incarnation of RJ Barrett will ever be better than Damien Lillard or Bradley Beal for the next 3-4 years.

He's a potential perennial all-star type of talent, you keep him for the chance to play with Beal or Dame.

We not getting Beal or Dame without giving him up tho. We have nothing else to offer in a trade

Come on y'all RJ is already on his way to being the best draft pick we've made in damn near ten years and y'all already cool with packing him up and selling the house after just two years for Beal or Dame.

Have we learned nothing from all the star chasing in the past?

Then so be it? The way Rose saving with this salary cap he'd rather just sign a super star level talent when the opportunity arises, not trade potential star players with only two years on their resume

  • Jul 1, 2021

rather just run it back then trade every f***ing assset we have for 31 year old dame lillard and be stuck with dame and randle for the next 5 years with no way of improving the team

  • Jul 1, 2021

and the free agents are s*** until like 2024

Worked when we flipped Wilson Chandler for Melo

Nah winning a championship means it worked. We lost in the second round and that was the peak for us trading for Melo. We pretty quickly fell apart afterwards because we didn't have enough on the team to build around Melo, wasting his prime.

Trading for Lillard or Beal is just asking for a repeat of that.

95%+ of trades are L's then if we using the Rangz or bust argument

Should've never traded Dennis Smith for Derrick Rose because it didn't win us a title

I mean...we can say it was a bust because trading for Melo was literally a move we made to get us to the ECF and Finals. We didn't. Therefore it ended up being a bust and setting us back.

Trading DSJ and a second for Rose was so we'd at least have SOME form of consistent competence off the bench and running the point. The expectations of us even making the playoffs when we made that trade were still very low.

Dame + Randle ain't winning a title and we'll have no more assets to do anything else, don't do it.

Idk who you expecting to join our team if RJ Barrett is this untradeable tbh. Giannis or Luka tier players not gonna fall in our lap in free agency any time soon

Randle with one year left on his deal not gonna have as much trade value as RJ with 3 years unless they just want an expiring contract instead of a future player

It's not RJ himself it's just him as an asset. He's a 20 year old who just averaged 17pts on a playoff team. Like yea RJ won't ever be a Dame level player but keeping him, the other young guys, along with the draft picks keeps us flexible and I think you don't cash all that in until you would be in serious title contention.

S***, the way the Nets super team got bounced in the second round (mostly due to injury) got me thinking forget all that super team s***, just build a solid roster and maintain that depth in your bench. A star will come in FA. Have no idea why people so gung-ho with skipping steps when we have done that many times before and failed.
