Was time to move on from RJ and we were not going to pay IQ what he wanted. Good luck to both!
Why not pay IQ and just trade RJ?
I would’ve traded RJ for Harrison Barnes or some s*** if we wanted to get off his deal that badly and just paid IQ, keep him for the better of the team and also as an asset to make the big move

Don't think Sacramento would take that deal tbh. Pretty much every team realizes RJ is a net negative player on a horrible contract

We traded him at probably his lowest value though, I just don’t know how we can make the next move without including one of them in it
I’m just not high on OG I think he’s one of the most overvalued players in the league, let’s see

Doesn’t IQ want close to 25 mil per? That’s a lot for a guy who is ultimately a back up guard. I enjoyed watching the kid play but let some other team overpay him if they want
Getting off that RJ contract alone required us to throw them a bone. Feels like this a trade that makes sense for both sides. But folks online can only view a trade through the lens of one party being fleeced

With the numbers on contracts getting higher and higher I think 25 mil for him is worth it and would’ve been tradeable, he’s a starting caliber guard just not with us (I think that’s a whole debate within itself).
This CAA s*** has gotten out of control as well, RJ & IQ both don’t have them as representation coincidentally

Thank you

Exactly This. You're right.
Quickley is a starter but on our team he's coming off the bench because we have Brunson. RJ has no value. No team is going to give something of value for RJ. This trade is essentially OG for Quickley RJ is a throw in. Knicks most likely were not going to match Quickley's contract and got something for him with this trade
This trade should’ve happened in the summer. RJ value was its highest off that playoff run and Grimes was our prize
But hey, the team clearly wasn’t gonna pay IQ what he wanted and after that trash ass playoff showcase you can’t fault them really
I'll vomit if we did this to give OG a bag and not let him walk
🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
OG agent is Leon Rose's son so they definitely already have a sense of OG's financials and have something locked in
Saw something that said that OG was after 40 per year but would take less on the Knicks...finna be 35 per for four years and a player option
And we still kept Evan Fournier
We’re going to need scoring off the bench not even mad if he plays like 10 mins a game
Also we need his contract to make the next trade
This move really just depends on the next one, if we get Murray or Mitchell out of it it’s a win
If we don’t have enough to get that next guy then it was all for nothing
We really need Grimes to start upping his value

You cannot sell me on Murray
Has to be a Mitchell tier star

Don’t get me wrong I’d rather have Mitchell we’d be true contenders. I also doubt we have enough to get him over the other offers they’ll get
But that line up with Murray would be really nice, I’d be satisfied with it.

Knicks finna get investigated for tampering again
Been too sad about IQ to update the thread title
excited to see how we look today though
For the first time I feel like we have a solid starting 5 if Mitch was healthy.
JB, Big Ragu, OG, Dubious and Hartenstien still good though. Let's see what they do today
