Baty should break camp with the team. Cut Ruf and Pham, let Escobar DH against LHP and have Locastro be the 4th/5th outfielder.
pham got like $8 million coming to him this year, no chance he gets cut
cut ruf or send him somewhere for a reliever
says general timeline for this injury is about 8 months. some athletes have come back in 6. surgery is today due to the fact that taking longer for surgery increases the scarring which can make things more difficult
also that Edwin is in good spirits and says he does not feel any real pain when talking to Billy last night

He won’t but he should he’s been washed for years. At least Locastro has the range to play CF, and the speed to fill Gore’s role from last year

i completely agree. we just have our hands tied it seems
We really don’t
Who’s gonna close my guy
Please don’t tell me you’re confident Roberson can be the closer

Robertson, Ottovino or closer by committee.
(Secretly I’m hoping Smith will have a breakout year)

Personally don’t trust those options but if they don’t trade for one then it is what it is.
They were in talks for Liam even before the injury so wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if they trade for a closer.
We have a short window to contend rn and we might as well go all in.

Not sure what you’re talking about. The Mets whole philosophy under Cohen is to be consistently competitive. That’s the reason they don’t trade prospects and that’s the reason most of their FA deals are up after 2024. Also as we’ve seen teams really shouldn't be concerned with winning the division. We should still be a lock for the playoffs and that’s what matters

consistently competitive isn't equal to being a contender.
we've seen how having a s***ty closer can literally cost a team a championship. idgaf about prospects who we don't know will be a sure thing, they need to get a real closer.

my guy the Phillies won the pennant with a closer who's on our roster

he saved 6 games for them in the regular season and one in the playoffs, hardly can call him their closer. regardless, i digress and still think the team should trade for a closer. we can agree to disagree.
We're good with what we have bullpen wise imo. One guy will break out the pack to hold us down until Diaz comes back.
I'm not with trading Alvarez, Baty, or Mauricio for a guy who is MAYBE pitching 3 innings in a week. Especially if he's just going to be an 8th inning guy next season
@op I appreciate your work updating the depth chart in a timely matter
I try

Facts. At the end of the day Diaz is just the closer.

To be clear, I didn’t mean trade any of our top 3-4 prospects of course
Iconic! He had opp fans sick because he made this song relevant. Godspeed in recovery, Edwin Diaz!
He’ll be the captain on my DD squad forever
