It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

This team, and this game, plays me like a fiddle and I will unfortunately let it every time. We were outclassed top to bottom and didn’t capitalize in the many moments where the team built momentum at the plate. Only so much can be said beyond that.

I appreciate this thread a ton - one of the few reasons why I even use ktt anymore. This winter is about to be an interesting one.

The taste of a disappointing end to this run is bittersweet but man this was one of the most fun seasons I’ve watched in years. Even all the times I counted this team as done.. we can go through this thread and count the times lol

But I do think this is a step in the right direction. If they can retain some pieces and add some more while getting even younger.. I think we got a shot to compete year in year out

Has Alonso earned a return? He wanted a big payday before. Think his regular season performance has him thinking differently about the money he can command?

I think he'll probably try to get as much money as possible due to Scott Boras. I do think I'd want him back if he wants less than $25M AAV (Freddie Freeman).

I say yes, I think his struggles were because of the pressures of the contract year. All things considered if this was a down year for him it was still decent. It's not like he s*** it up and turned into Chris Davis. He's still the best 1B available in the free agent class and deserves to be a lifelong Met
