Took a few million more for a one year. Honestly can't blame him. Coming off an injury/surgery and getting $21m to pretty much just chill in a LA for a year with the chance to make a splash in the FA market the season after? S*** who wouldn't take that?
The Angels might suck currently, but they got two generational talents on the team and they have an off season to keep building. Would not at all be surprised to see the Angels become a team taking seriously next season and the season afterwards.

Mannn I ain’t mad at players going after better deals I just wish they wouldn’t cap. I was sure he would resign wit the Mets he said he wanted to stay here.

Honestly he could’ve took the QO and went crazy in Ny next year and potentially got even more paid I mean he can do that in LA too but damn…
All that hope of that young dominate rotation from more than half a decade ago and it’s only DeGrom left ain’t that sumn

All of that really got wasted, and now the Mets are pretty much stuck in a limbo where our peak is a first round exit in the post season...if even that

I think he did want to stay but the Mets only offering $18m for one year probably rubbed him the wrong way. It's one of those things where players would love to stay in the place that they became "The guy" in. But when that team tries to play them in initial negotiations it's just gonna leave a bad taste in their mouth.

factoring in the California income tax rate, he didn’t leave for that much more money. For a guy who leaving NY would be a “tough pill to swallow”
sad, also going to an org that hasn’t produced a good pitcher in how many years? Internal or with a signing? idk it’s a questionable move and I’ll miss the guy but it’s one less gigantic question mark for the Mets

Going to the Angels for a year is likely just a stepping stone for him to set himself up for something better. With Syndergaard going to the Angels wouldn't that easily make him one of their top pitchers in their rotation? Lotta eyes on him at that point, much easier to showcase what he's got to other teams who might take an interest in signing him in the off season the following year.
Personally I wouldn't pay much attention to the things he has said about wanting to say, it's mostly lip service. If dude really meant what he said he would've just stayed cause the Mets would have the money to keep him around if they really wanted to.

I mean that first point is complete nonsense

That’s corny tho, he was lucky they even let him pitch at that end of the year last year. How much money did he think he would get? Well I guess what he wanted. He’ll be leading that team to 3rd place if he stays healthy

Idk how much less of a question mark it is tho because they still need pitching. Hopefully they resign Stro and they can sign someone else. The Mets do have pitching depth coming back hopefully is Peterson comes back and maybe they’ll let Megil progress more in the minors and eventually back in the big leagues but who knows
This guy Noah talkin about how the Mets search for a GM position was too much “uncertainty” for him… so he signs wit the West coast Mets lmao okay buddy. Good luck.
