my thinking is that the west passed a point of no return with its wanton embrace of nihilism. post-modernists have deconstructed anything and everything in sight, and today's philosophers have gone on to label what's left of the carcasses as problematic. in short, the way we live lacks structure, tradition, meta-narrative, etc. and we are thrown into our modern society bare and defenseless, with nothing to cling to.

what this lady might be seeing in this chinese family is tradition, culture, and all those other things we have forsaken. in her head, they've got their own history, meta-narrative, and so on as a sort of metaphorical sword and shield when they go out and face american society.

of course, in reality, these people are likely just as defenseless as the white woman. they're probably just as lost in the weeds as she is. we can all see that; to us, that family is just other people. her blindness to that is what makes this post funny and viral!

Let's keep it real brother, it's not that deep. She's just a basic white girl that's infatuated with the Chinese culture. She probably comes from a basic white suburban family and had an uneventful upbringing. White Americans got no culture at all aside from like Trump and country music (which originates from black people), that's why they try to take from and be included in other cultures so much
