The idea is that the payout is as if you win every bet consecutively and then invest all the winnings on the next bet until you win every bet. You set up the parlay for when multiple events are on at the same time and can’t put down the consecutive bets due to time or if they’re playing at the same time.

So if you only did a 2 bet parlay with the first two, then on Thursday decided to put all those earnings down on that third bet, the payout is the same as doing a 3 team parlay. So adding the third bet just lets the book hold your money til Thursday and now you don’t get to change your mind.
