Does roses count as electronic music?
Which roses are you talking about? There's a lot.
I'm assuming just the snt jhn imanetek remix which is slap house, so yes, house is electronic
If you're trying to say that single song being number one hit during Covid I implore you to go look at the sheer amount of hits during 2015/16 alone and even compare the actual numbers.
Yes it made a tiny sub genre popular for a couple of months with no other mega hits out of it, but did you ignore the part of my comment where I mention 3 mega hits that are all only future bass? Those dominated the charts in a full year and kinda just stayed for ages. If we're comparing just these two sub genres every song on peace is the mission was a radio hit to an extent minus just one song. Hell, future bass was such a massive genre it basically reined as king for like 3 years straight, with competition basically only from hip hop. Slap house was hot for like 3 months

Fr. Couldn't imagine listening to Fred Again in 2023. NPC ass music
2015 - 2017 I was consistently going to 4-6 shows a week basically every week across like 5 venues and 2 warehouses in my city (how I made money) and an assload of shows were sold out, even for artists you'd think are small time or have like 1 hit max, I saw the floozies 4 times during this all sold out and they were never "big" like griz or anyone like that, and they aren't even the best example, every time nghtmre would come it was sold out too
And I never went to any arena sets either. I've been told electric forest in those years were prime as well but I only went in 16, very often hear people say it fell off after 17
I never even really traveled for edm shows either, this was all in a city that's not even really a major one
That s*** has fallen off heavy after 2017, I’ll agree with that. I just remember those 3 years before covid being really dope from the people I would meet to the vibes/excitement at every show.I think I went to one big show last year (Rezz x Zeds dead) and the vibes just were not the same from the earlier years. Is what it is I guess. Now that GRiZ semi-retired, I don’t really be checking in on the scene anymore

Zeds dead is one those acts I always wanted to see before I die but never seemed to do anything but fests... v jealous. Used to watch their sets after dosing all the time and lost you is a song that really needs to be looked at as one of the best songs of the 2010s. Used to use hadoken in every set I did
Edm kinda died like you said when comparing it. Completely crazy how I never see shows sell out like they used to. So much is just riddim too, it's depressing
At least here it seems like the shift has been towards hardcore or punk weirdly enough. I see ska shows selling out more
I mentioned the Halloween mixes falling off and that's a huge red flag alone imo
Didn't even know griz was doing that, great guy always does amazing shows too. Was hoping to go to grizmas this year in Detroit (I think that's where he does it)
