I've used YouTube for things I haven’t got the CDQ source for at the time so not to waste time
But I'll go back afterwards when I have time to get the CDQ & then I'll drop it in place (Ableton file switching is pretty easy)

If you can, should always sample straight from the vinyl or cd rips. As long as its lossy/losseless quality.

Use YouTube if you cant even find any rips or physical of such.

Or youtube if the fidelity of the rip is interesting

& I definitely didn't need the drum machine when I already have an Ableton Push 2 so I could use the superb step sequencer that's perfectly integrated with the Ableton Drum Rack

If someone was serious about getting into music making I'd probably just tell em to get a Focusrite, a Rode NT1 & any midi keyboard with full size keys, basically set & that's only gonna cost like 200 bucks
Everything else can be found in the DAW

& they're gonna use Ableton (like i'd recommend) a Push 1 still works perfectly fine & can be bought for like 120 bucks

all depends on the source. listen to new music on vinyl it sounds terrible. if it's recorded on an audio technica at-2020 through a focusrite scarlett and mixed through wired earpods it won't have that full warm sound you're expecting on vinyl

I did find it really stupid that Alex G/Sandy was using a Samson Q1U USB mic for all his recording purposes until his 2019 album
Dude was on his 7th album & had been touring since like 2012 & was still doing studio recording with a garbage ass mic. I get it but also for archive purposes & just for making things sound a pinch better, he should've veen upgraded years before that

I run my master buss through ghz lossy lese codec rc20 and a hysteresis modeller, as well as a sample rate reducer and bit rate reducer. When it comes to the sound of failure i like to cover all my bases. If there’s any audible information left, i know ive made a mistake
