WESTSIDEI feel you. And I understand the roles groups like the Five Percent Nation has played in hip hop and in people’s lives who needed some sense of structure and community.
Not sure if you’re saying that’s what I’m doing, but in no way am I s***ting on something to make outsiders feel good. My stance comes from the fact that I was radicalized and influenced by the Five Percenters, Nation of Islam, Hotep/Kemet rhetoric, etc. when I was younger. But eventually realized a good amount of it is nonsense and is targeted at people who aren’t thoroughly educated and/or those who are longing for a sense of community because they can’t find it in dominant society.
I’m against cancel culture. But also Jay-Z, Wu-Tang, etc. aren’t gonna come out and openly say what Nick just said even if that’s what they believe. He’s free to have any belief he wants to, but this wasn’t smart unless he’s cool with losing the part of his income that was coming from his white audience.

Jul 14, 2020It's always funny to me seeing people freak out about people like DeSean or Nick quoting Minister Farrakhan and being puzzled as to why they would quote him. Like the guy has been preaching for black empowerment for years (even though he doesn't go about it in the right way) and was side by side with Malcolm X. Like yeah it's shocking to see people quote an anti-Semite, but when people are so baffled it throws me off. Like are you living under a rock? It isn't surprising at all that people still regurgitate his talking points.

I guess you could find a black person who is offended by that type of stuff for the sake of being offended but words and s*** don’t really hurt me as much as actual structural/systemic racism

Surprised by your final point - obv agree structural/systemic racism are by far the biggest issues, but unless i’m misunderstanding what is meant by those terms, even if these issues were “fixed” tomorrow i don’t see that this would eradicate bullying, hate crime, organised racist movements etc
Wouldn’t these things, even if just “words” have a profound effect on black people in countries where they are a fairly small minority?

It would be different if 99% of white people had a statue of a confederate general but I'm pretty sure most of them condemn those weirdos.I'm for attacking ideology not identity, especially not something as broad and vague perceived race. the populations that had selective pressure for light skin pigmentation were towards the reaches of the north due to a lack of sun exposure, not because of cave dwelling.

Half these genocides is because of the influence of Europeans
