Got close a couple years ago I believe.

Was a free concert for 070 shake in Brooklyn, and my friends decided to post up next to the F***ING HUGE SPEAKERS. And after 20 min when shake ended up coming out, I remember thinking to myself “man the audio sounds so bad and distorted, how can anyone enjoy this rn?”

To my horror, my ears were just constantly ringing the rest of the night. When I tried going to sleep, the feeling of horror that crept in my mind that this ringing may never go away, will forever haunt me. Thankfully it went away by mid day the next day.

    Could’ve been ugly

had the exact same experience at the earl/boldy/action bronson show

It legit felt like my life was over for the next few days

Deaf. Sight might be the most important sense

think i have this slightly now but not really sure. i can hear a faint fuzz/ringing when i’m in complete silence but idk if that’s just the sound of silence or what

As far as I can remember I’ve had this but apparently this isn’t actually normal

same thing happened to me twice. first time was at a concert in college, the other time was this summer and it was because i was right near the speakers at a club

the most recent time i was so scared because it took like two days to go away lol. if i think about it hard enough i feel like i can still hear it but i feel like that’s my mind playing tricks on me

    i hope

Is this like sometimes when you’re chilling and then one ear will just start buzzing and then calm back down? It happens to me but only in like 15 sec increments

same here. but i think for me it’s because of zinc deficiency, that’s one of the symptoms along with a couple of others that i have unfortunately lol

  • I was born with it, so it doesn't really bother me. I only consciously hear it when I'm thinking about it; kind of like how you never see your nose in your field of vision until you're thinking about it

Bonus points for anyone with tinnitus + visual snow. We out here

anyone else literally only have tinnitus at night?

I feel like this but that's probably because there's just a lot more things happening during the day and it's less noticeable, it gets super obvious when you're just in the quiet dark of the night

It’s weird to me because I can be in a totally quiet room during the day and be fine, like barely hear it. But the second it’s night time it’s louder. Especially if i’m ever awake around 2-4am it seems especially bad. Weird

That’s a good point the human body is weird af. During when I had peak insomnia issues tinnitus would drive me insane, now I barely notice it

That’s the audio engineer’s job ngl.

Depending on the venue, you’re supposed to know to split the difference between what the artist is hearing via stage monitors and what the audience is hearing via house speakers.

Other than hardcore/metal shows, the audience shouldn’t be at risk to lose their hearing but also a LOT of venues set up the audience regardless so it’s a lose/lose.

We still have yet to figure out how to tell vocalists/singers to STOP CUPPING THE GODDAMN SHURE 58 AT THE HEAD MY GUY YOU ARE LITERALLY MUMBLING/SINGING INTO YOUR HANDS THE CROWD CAN BARELY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING so it’s gonna be difficult telling an artist to “quiet tf down” lmfao
