    ARCADE GOON

There have been African politicians summoning Chinese diplomats for questioning, but this might just be political posturing to appease the populace. It will be business as usual for the most part, but China is not doing itself a favor by rejecting debt relief that the G20 has proposed. African government are more angry at that than some of their citizens being mistreated in quarantine in China. China opposes debt relief while for example France has signaled their approval for suspending debts temporarily.

African governments will continue to use anti-Chinese rhetoric to appease voters because a lot of people are rightfully angry. The question is where they go from here in terms of action: Back to the arms of the West, or turn inwards and tighten the African Union? It's not as if France, the UK and the USA are much better partners.

The Chinese will have to change their attitude drastically if they want to continue their infrastructure projects in Africa. They are not good at propaganda abroad, not good at communicating with the local population, don't give out enough high-quality jobs to locals as much as they should and are too ruthless in debt collection matters. Collaboration between China and Africa might be permanently damaged because of China's patronizing attitude.

The best case for the African people would be strengthening an African Union, but all of the other world powers will be against that so it's an uphill struggle.

I think relying on the African Union is highly optimistic especially when China has such a strong foothold on africa and intra-africa trade is so low.

African governments might vehemently disagree with China' stance but how do we know that this isn't just for public show. Look at the Zambian government, they has already been word that they might sell their national assets to china as a result of defaulting on china debt. I dont think they will run back to the West, China's loans are more enticing than western aid regardless of Chinese behaviour on Chinese soil.

Strengthening the AU and Intra-africa trade is the best policy, but then African states cannot continue to rely on AU. For them to be self sufficient is a whole other question about governments, institutions and economic management and this isnt something that will be resolved anytime soon.

Why does no-one talk about America the way do about China?

McDonald's goes everywhere in the world feeding get fat mchappys. Ford sells cars everywhere. Apple pays workers not much in order to cut costs and then sells it to the upper class to make like 1000% profit.

American business men were the original Chinese. If we're gonna hate on capitalists let's hate on all of them.
