Gpt 3 is a s***show & part why other tech companies are developing their own such as Microsoft with Bing & Cortana, Google, Apple etc. when it could be therorically easier to use their base model or buy it out completely like they all have with other tech avenues

I dont know the nitty-gritty literal code side of it I only have cursory knowlege on coding myself (i more understand how these model get trained & evolve like using parent models that have more stricter info that like "teach" the "next gen" that is more loose etc.) - but its interesting & i think gpt 4 will be a more paid & controlled model like you suggest

I think its been let off the rails a bit too much so its absorbing info that is literally wrong or very bias/skewed - not in the same but similar to when they talked about their older trainer models from years ago accidentally absorbed too much p*** and smut all due to a simple coding error and had to restart due to it and saying the most vile and dirty s*** to where emit lost context and reason
