That is a sentence thrown around these days but this one deserves it. Man I just wanted to show some love to the original (not the NES original lol) Ninja Gaiden that brought that series into the 3d era.
The enemy designs (mostly) and combat are amazing and of course the difficulty. Just beating the game on normal was worth bragging over back in the day, but especially if you could pass the s*** on the higher difficulties, whew. Alma, you son of a b**** I was stuck on that s*** and died so many times. Great memories.
But the real meat and potatoes is that it's not just a super super straightforward linear action game. I mean it's linear, but the levels are amazingly designed in such a way that makes them feel open ended, and there is hub areas you return to, making the game feel like a sort of real journey, especially after defeating the hard ass enemies and bosses. Not to mention an amazing soundtrack as well as simple but relatively deep upgrade system, with some light puzzles and platforming. Amazing boss fights steal the show, even if they make you wanna throw the controller lol
Sigma series improved everything about the series as well. Too bad the third game wasn't as good (no Itagaki) and I never played the 4th but I've heard some mixed things. Looks ok but doesn't look as deep level design wise as the first. I'll probably check it out on YT to see if that's true or not.
One of the best action/adventure games of all time. Yeah I actually do want to add the "adventure" in there as it feels like one just as much as an action game. Don't make like that no more. Looking forward to Onimusha and Phantom Blade.
Still gotta play the ng1black but og ninja gaiden 2 is the most fun I had playing a game outside of fighting games
