Brand-new Zelda mainline games take eons to make.
For the next one I can see them ditching the BOTW style for a completely fresh one (as it happens with the Zelda series for every Nintendo gen) so it’s gonna take them even longer just cus of that.

This OOT remake was a best-case scenario for Zelda fans while we have to wait.

It’s only an actual issue if they repeatedly rely on remakes and it taking away development time from the next real Zelda installment (I can see them remaking Majora’s Mask next and stopping there).

not attacking you directly i’m gonna say this in general but i dont know why people feel the need to explain this as if it isnt an insanely obvious move from nintendo and that it justifies its existence

i would much rather wait however long it takes to get a fresh new game or even a return to an older 3D zelda but with some new spin to it then to be sold another remake of an old ass game.

a WAY better move would be to release a collection of the older zeldas into one and sell it for a reasonable price but knowing nintendo, they would rather drip feed it through NSO to incentivize people to pay for the subscription

I think open world 3D Zelda will be how they will make Zelda games going forward. The success they had with BOTW and TOTK is a first for the series.

But they know that there is a side of the Zelda fanbase which wants classic 3D Zelda back. I could see them do classic 3D Zelda remakes and new open world Zeldas in rotation to keep both sides happy from now on.

Im not sayin we seeing new 3d Zelda, but i don't see how we don't get a switch 2 edition/new small game/one of the gamecube nso zeldas/remasters/a combination of all of these. How they gonna fit 10 more minutes of a showcase if not with some of these

I think after this remake we'll be getting new traditional 3d zeldas from whoever's making oot remake. Its been Nintendo's playbook since Samus returns: give a new team a remake project from a series they want to give to them to familiarize with developing those type of games, and then let them create new ones. Happened with 2d Metroid, 2d Zelda, famicom detective club, gonna happen with star fox and probably now with Linear zelda
