Devs are part of the problem. Why can’t Sakurai stand up for the Melee scene? Why can’t Splatoon devs stand up for the Splatoon comp scene?

Sakurai doesn’t even work for Nintendo. He could easily say “let Melee play games in a safe way during a pandemic or o will not work with you again.”

Smash makes too much money for Nintendo to just let him walk away like that.

This is wrong. Lots of Melee pros are good at Ultimate. Noteably Leffen who actually won an Ultimate tournament and placed very high in many others.

The newest game in a series is not always the best game of the series. This is essentially true for fighting games. BlazBlue, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Smash Bros, ect all had their best games in the past.

Nintendo's always been like this, back then like more than 5 years ago you couldnt play a game on youtube or twitch without partnering with nintendo thus giving them basically all the revenue from the videos or when they banned a smash tournament at evo

3d all stars tho is the shadiest thing they've ever done software wise, most non-nintendo thing they've ever done

Exactly, plus timed release, no button remapping until an update that came 2 months after release, visual bugs that were the result of emulation and more. The only good thing out of that game was mario galaxy because it wasnt emulated
