It would only be performative if they just chose a random black person that has no ties to hip hop media… so yeah if they put some random IG influencer I could see your point but if you are hosting an event like this I’m assuming you have some type of reach or connections throughout Hip hop media in NYC and there are plenty of black media heads.
Now in this case most likely they just leveraged their relationships wit the panelists and that’s fine but who tf cares about what the creators of f***in Sidetalk NYC thinks about hip hop? They go viral for s*** like having an Asian girl talk wit a NY blaccent .. bullshit.
