The last 10 years of hip hop have arguably been it's second golden age imo. The mid 00s to 09 maybe even 2011 were hip hop collectively at it's worst.
I think it honestly got worse because of streaming. The record companies were always greedy but once the music industry had to adapt to streaming the record labels got even cheaper than they were before.
Definitely man, I wonder if it has to do with how alot of rappers in the mainstream seem to come and go super fast too. Seems like some make a quick hit and the labels f*** them over, then they sort of fall off.

Seems like most popstars have stayed relevant which seems like a hard thing to do
