i don't think it's an age /generational thing. he's questioning the authenticity of carti and saying that it's mostly aesthetics and not punk music like carti's teenage fans think it is.

Yo is that seriously from '06? I remember I was kind of too young for the "emo" s*** back in the 2000's but I do remember it sort of evolved into "scene" stuff back in the late 2000's.
