Yeah I usually hate conspiracy stuff, but between this and @krishna_bound ’s post — this being done to help Trump makes a lot of sense to me (not saying that Trump himself is involved in coordinating this though)
A lot of conservatives are using this as an excuse to be anti-union but in reality the ILA never should have been admitted to NLRB. It’s an ILA Issue not a union one
The ILA is arguably the worst union in the country and calling it a union is a stretch. This isn’t a factory worker union fighting for safety rights and higher fair pay. The ILA chair makes $1M/yr and the avg longshoreman makes $200k+ on top of $50k/yr benefits, which is subsidized by tax money. Almost all union leadership was involved in a high level RICO case with the Genovese family. They are asking the government to restrict automation and to artificially prop up high paying jobs using taxpayer money - I am not joking, their demands are something like $300k/yr. The longshoreman union is unlike any other in the country and they’ve faced constant actual legal challenges from civilian law groups of which they’ve responded by using mob connections to kill civil lawyers
My opinion on this topic has arrived

sounds like the plot of a netflix original
the correct communist stance is to neither tail the ILU bueracracy and the union's economist demands, nor to ignore the labor dispute entirely due to the aristocratic nature of its members -- but to intervene and push the contradictions of the moment to its most revolutionary potential (whatever that may be). this has always been the anti-revisionist position on strikes within yellow unions.
if their job gets automated doesnt the company save more money to pay them
How do you think this is a good thing
Oh F*** these niggas.

How do you think this is a good thing
if they appreciated their employees then i would expect they would be assigned new roles and responsibilities now that the automation saves the company time and money, but if its a greedy company to maximize the profits i can understand if they just get laid off and its a bad thing
Well, that was fast.

The point of a company is to make as much money as possible for their top 3 people.
