I enjoyed it in the long run, but having said that it took me 3 nights to finish because I kept falling asleep.
It’s one of those movies where the first thing everyone will say is “it’s so beautiful” which, yeah it definitely is, but it’s trying too hard to look like some Chris Stapleton music video for 2 hours instead of creating emotional clarity with the protagonist and their struggles/triumphs.
Idk, I feel conflicted because scenes are definitely standing out in my head. Like the one with the woman who wants to go to Alaska and the one with the boy on the side of the road talking about his love back home. But the main character never really connected with me in any scenes the way the brief appearances of other more interesting nomads did, and a part of me wishes I could swap out Fern and follow one of them instead...

Think this might of been better served as a documentary

Into the Wild
Into the Wild
Think so? Into the wild had a lot more going on plot wise. I would say Leave No Trace

It’s the closest movie I could compare it to. Have never watched Leave No Trace

There’s this joke Amy Poehler had at the Golden Globes where she said “TV is one hour I watch 3 times, a movie is 2 hours I split into 3 parts”

Malick with no voiceover

Word it’s pretty good too. Damn near perfect reviews. But I believe Nomadland is a lot slower.
ngl I havent heard one person that's as positive about this as people seem to be about this. If that makes any sense.

damn thats sad af R.I.P man
Snyder also worked with “Nomadland” director Chloé Zhao on 2017’s “The Rider.” “On ‘The Rider’ and ‘Nomadland,’ I always looked at Wolf after each take,” Zhao said. “I didn’t wear headphones on set and so I heavily relied on Wolf to be my ears. He would nod at me with a happy grin, or tears in his eyes, or sometimes he would discreetly signal ‘one more.’ During ‘The Rider,’ Wolf suggested an idea we later took onto ‘Nomadland’ — recording room tones longer than we need as a chance to experience silence. After hustling on each location, we sat together, in silence, tuned in, listened and honored the world around us and each other. I will always miss him. He would always be with me on set, after each take, and in the silence of every room tone. See you down the road, my friend.”
