I am very glad for her. I wished more communists set positive examples like she does. A lot of people are convinced not merely by theory but by seeing people practice what they preach. Her programme to send books to prisoners, exchange letters and now open up a library is infinitely more useful than being stuck in online activism like many others.

Books are dope as hell. Education is dope as hell. But it's a very specific resource that people have to want to engage with to benefit from. I don't see many young people in general walking around with novels today, and people from lower ses backgrounds may also not have the free time to read a ton of books.

I'm just hoping this doesn't turn into a prop for LA "influencers" and tiktokers.

Maybe that’s bc stuff like bookstores that noname created dont really exist in lower ses backgrounds, so creating it will provide people a great source of literature to read which will make people want to as well. It’s a shame that typically once something like this is introduced somewhere, a Starbucks and Whole Foods opens and kicks everyone out
I agree Tho and hope tiktok d***heads don’t gentrify it lol

Exactly and then the neighborhood is gentrified and those original residents get priced out and never see the benefits. I'm simply asking whether this is setup to actually benefit community members right now.

I think it is bc it’s really a small business and not a corp, plus the genius of it which I respect her for is it’s all free so it isn't bringing any “financial incentives” for corporations to tag along and build into, allowing it to provide more so for the people in that community!!

that being said this is pretty dope considering she's actually acting on what she says rather than spewing meaningless BS

Sad ashell I thought this was in NYC sumwhere and close enough for me to visit soon, hopefully inspires more locations in major cities asap. Community needs this and so many charitable rapdollars can be reallocated these libraries for them to run forever
