I had white friends who went to teach English in Japan and Korea straight out of high school w/o learning much about the culture or the language and they all lived out there for months w no real trouble.

communicating might be a b**** but most korean ppl working in stores/restaurants will know enough English for an American person to get by imo.

prolly easier if you got a korean homie or make friends w a korean person out there tho.
