Alien Romulus better but this was good. Will probably rewatch in a theater before it leaves.

I need to see Robert do an alien movie. The atmosphere in the movie would be crazy.

I think many of you are missing that Nosferatu isnt just Nosferatu....

Which is also a key part of the ending

I'd really love to hear you articulate how this movie is a "very very feminist story," could you please expand on that? What powerful message did you take away from this, that women can have carnal sexual desires and/or that sexual predators can have a lifelong influence? There was nothing profound or particularly interesting about the muddy themes.

It's hilarious to act like a film that uses a significant portion of its runtime lingering on Lily Rose-Depp making the O face while she softly moans like a modern p*** actress is in any way some kind of powerful feminist statement. It's just a dumb horror movie.

I'd also like to hear what thinking was required — Dafoe feeding the audience information is not an "epiphany moment," it's just hamfisted writing. I could've watched the first 45 minutes (the best part by far), fallen asleep like the guy you replied to, and woken up for the ending without being lost at all. Pretty easy to fill in the gaps.

You really think one of the most iconic stories of all time (with a dumb mustachioed twist — and don't you dare use the "but omg all royalty from that region and era looked like that" excuse every Eggers fanboy is spouting) requires some deep thinking to unpack?

You're criticizing mainstream flicks as if this is some artsy low-budget interpretation of the story. It's not. It's a mainstream horror movie, no better or worse than the dumb action movies you're deriding.

It was a 7/10 at best for me, but the reddit takes from #TrueCinemaHeads are really forcing down that rating

MAJOR SPOILER SO ONLY RESPOND TO IT OR ANY POST INVOLVING IT IN SPOILER TAGS

While Nosferatu is dying he looks like Hoult or Houltish for a reason or am I tripping. Because there was a larger point about toxc masculinity on all sides of this movie. Continously not believing women victims til it cost them their lives. Yes her sexuality is on display but an basic view of "omg her o face" . Her o\*\*\*\*\* is part of what frees her. When she has hoult f\*\*\* her like that she wants to be ravaged. She doesnt want to be treated poorly nor is it like he is slapping her during the s\*\*\*in eithercase its intimate. TheI could be a good girl s\*\*\* isnt some p\*\*\* level s\*\*\*. She recongnizes that without her sexuality what do these men want from her. She does many other actions including having his kids yet he will leave her at a moments notice to smoke tobacco and drink with the boys

also there is no way you aren't connecting many of these things

I didnt say OR LIMIT EPIPHANIES TO dafoe talking at the screen man. Y'all need to get out your f***ing emotions learn to read with nuance. I said the writing THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE has moments of things they say ABOUT THEIR WORLd that apply to OUR WORLd which leads me to an epiphany if you think this some short of p***o because a woman o***** and moans even as the movie opens with the clear contrast of her o*****ing and a horrific jump scare for a reason I dont know what to tell you gang.

I said to me its a powerful feminist statement. I quit p*** long long ago as in 13 years. ( seen only fans sincce) but I said what I said

I had a good time with Alien Romulus and the franchise has a special place in my heart but it really didn’t do anything new for me to have it up there with the best movies of the year at all

I was at this theater and had no audio issues and subtitles were on for the needed parts

was closer to front by choice cause contacts and didnt want tall heads

only annoying thing is in like final hour like 5 people went back and forth to bathroom

if your bladder is weak or you drink too much liquids ( I kind of chill before on medium amount) or you ate something that may cause you to poop please sit in exit lane of theater man lol

Yeah I hadn’t been to my local theater in a while. They just played it too quiet, wasn’t the films fault. I will see at another soon

And yes I think lane seats are underrated for people who know they’ll need to get up often. It’s common sense

recognize I didnt read this article before I said it was a feminist movie

I saw one trailer and begin to see some tweet jokes about the movie or women saying it was a great love story.

    No press
    no interviews
    didnt read a single review

    saw one trailer

ate some shroom chocolate and went in

yall saying there is no messaging is insulting to intelligence

to be clear before anyone says "you are fighting anyone who doesnt like the movie"

    nah I respect all opinons

to say a 3 hour piece of art has no messaging or meaning isnt subjectively wrong its objectively wrong

like its simply not the truth. I am not going to say the movie perfect. If you go to movies for explosions , pretty colors and action not everything meant for you so I am wondering why you buy a ticket in the first place

I say the same thing in music section.Going to art in bad faith annoys me because you can see Sonic, Wicked or spend your money on food or something that serves you

this could have 100% on rottent tomatoes all 10/10

same way yall reacted to everything everywhere all at once "its overrated"

movies and all art requires something from the audience there is only so much a movie can do to grip a user

At best, any deeper meanings or metaphors are unclear

I'm genuinely asking, what is the deeper meaning of the film?

  • Dec 29, 2024

"Most iconic stories of all time"

Nigga I have only eveer seena picture of the orginal

this film meant a lot to many women who are victims of abuse, gaslighting , mens hyper sexuality, gender roles and many more topics if it means nothing to you thats ccol thats fair

but again to say art has no meaning because it doesn't have meaning to you is a great irony

you didnt catchthe eiphanies ( NOT dAFOE) that made it abundantly clear this is a feminis film

you being a dumbass is not the problem or responsbility of the art or artist

  • Dec 29, 2024
    OHMNI

This is genuinely a you problem though

It was a lot to digest at times it knows it . It has well placed jump scares and advancement of plot to grip you more and more just like the characters

It’s definitely not a movie to see without caffeine or d**** but it’s not passive content it does require the user to do some thinking

Again William dafoe directly says many things but there are many epiphany moments and quotables where we as an audience snapped or clapped

Because this has connections to our reality and our own demons

Of saying let us focus on being viewed as successful or accolades or job or money over love costing us everything

Very very feminist story and an utter master class in finally respecting a woman character in horror

Bro what thinking does it require? Everything is literally laid out for the viewer

Anyone can get published in Bloody Disgusting, that's like saying "this Letterboxd review is such a thought out piece." 90 percent of that opinion piece is her rehashing the plot. Her major conclusion is that because Ellen had to give consent, she's the most powerful character (no s\*\*\*) which makes it a strong feminist statement. Maybe in like 1990 that would've been powerful lmao.

You keep acting like you're having to put the pieces together for people. Newsflash: they're already assembled, they're just not enticing
