It's not like everyone spoke in iambic pentameter a hundred or two years ago
D***ens, Twain, Verne etc are still really accessible to our modern language. Read Dracula and Frankenstein when I was like 12.
I read Frankenstein for the first time this year, it's pretty accessible

Tbh barring advertising it as white panther, I don't think anyone was going in droves to see a mystical, esoteric, historical horror drama about Vikings that was 2 and some change hours long

I didnt disagree with the "mystical" but I dont think the two or three out-there scenes make the whole thing too esoteric for you casual filmgoer
I dont think Leonidas communing with the Ephors in 300 made it too inaccessible to the millions of dudes that watched it
