Threw up a cup of tobacco juice over the past two days I’m quitting tobacco and running this movie back
I got a picture of the amount over two days it’s been about half a Costco cup I was smoking more from stress but I finally love life and just praying I didn’t carcinogen f*** myself . I want to get back in gym instantly and run it out
Tonight
What a sad movie :(
I loved it
The shot of Orlok with his two hounds in the shadows
You know what I might be looking forward to the directors cut more than this theatrical cut
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought of Future the whole time watching this
good but didnt really feel like it hit that 2nd gear idk
I’m scared Eggers don’t got that dawg in him anymore
Megalopolis was fun but also highly regarded
Challengers was spicy but we've seen that before
Furiosa is like the post apocalyptic Lawrence Of Arabia and that's a new one
Seen that before where?
I honestly was not a fan of this, and I like Eggers. When I saw the trailer I was under the impression he was getting too formulaic, and this movie kind of proves me right?
One issue with the movie I think lied in presentation, and acting. With this ensemble cast of familiar faces it was kind of hard to take a few people seriously. Hoult was a little too one note (albeit accurate to the original character), and ATJ sucked? Why is he doing this accent? It does not work for him. Lily Rose was good but she was also one note. I feel like certain actors have to be really tailored to his material, you can’t just throw in handsome actor man person to a role, it has to be particular.
Eggers played things way too straight, which happens in The Northman, and happens here. I can give that movie credit cause it wasn’t afraid to have some moments of levity, and creative imagery. This felt like it wasn’t willing to explore any new visuals/territory outside of changes to the end, that felt more confusing than satisfying. There were many long atmospheric scenes that only had a few chances of working. The seriousness hindered any chance of pointing out the absurdities of the situations that happen in the story like in the Herzog adaptation. Overall this felt like a weak offering from Eggers, and I hope he can work with something better.
Herzog > Murnau > Eggers
