Earlee Parajanov
"some of the French stuff, no offense, gets a little too French"
Yeah I need to track down like half the stuff he mentioned. Some early parajanov sounds great.

She knew what she was doing
Even though I'm a Possession hater
Possession hate? From Elric?
who got movie recs with a similar vibe or time period?
Felt a similar vibe from this movie to The Witch which is Eggers as well
Am I dumb if my read on this film is partly that women often desire masculinity, and men need to allow women to be honest about that because when they get jealous and try and repress it it never goes away?
Elaborate
Im picking up what you’re saying a bit but the wording has me a lil confused

I could roll with it this idea but her not wanting anything to do with Orlok throughout the movie until he basically holding a gun to all her loved ones in order to get some ass
The one time Thomas has s\*\*\*with her, I took it as them moreso to “prove” to Orlok that she belongs to Thomas instead of “ah yes this is how I want a man to treat me
“
Also she referred to him molesting her in the past all those years as “her shame” and I guess you can compare that to women finding their sexuality and repressing it in front of men if there was this zombied out creep doing the bidding the whole time
the Vamp being killed by the gypsies in the first act was probably why Orlok was also ready to get the f\*\*\* up out of there it was only a matter of time before he was next

Yeah, but I felt like she was coping
Don't watch this movie with your little cousins yall I was fighting for my life on the way back home
Anyway I got my reservations about this movie, I'm a huge Eggers fan (Lighthouse in my top 5 movies of all time) but the pacing felt a little formulaic, and like it was trying to be a lot of things at once. Even the few jump scares in it felt like it was shoehorned in by the studio to be more marketable as a horror movie. Not sure what I was expecting but it turned out to be more of a period fantasy than anything.
Loved the score, cinematography and set design tho. That one scene with the carriage coming to pick him up was beautiful, the dream sequences were done so well too. Really looking forward to watching again.

Pretty much my thoughts 4/5
1. The Lighthouse (I don’t know if Egger’s will ever top this one)
2. The Witch & Nosferatu
(Can’t choose between these, both kino)
3. The Northman (good movie but the characterization and plot is a little too straight forward for me)
VVitch

People get too uptight about this. As long as people aren’t carrying on full side convos I like a lively theater experience
