I’m moving out of a four floor house and hired movers to help me. They ended up damaging the walls at both my old and new places. On top of that, they left early on both days, so my roommate and I ended up packing, carrying, and transporting 99% of our belongings ourselves—down four flights of stairs and then into the new property.
They gave me a quote of $600, which they claim includes the cost of paint for the wall repairs. But the wall damage is deep in the wall and could cost thousands across both properties. I won’t be able to get my security deposit back if the walls are destroyed. Now they’re accusing me of “playing the victim,” even though they’re the ones who put me in this position.
All they actually did was move two desks (not all of them), disassemble and reassemble the beds (my bed frame was foldable and easy), and carry the bed frames down the stairs into the truck. My roommate and I did everything else. They did not provide $600 worth of service. Plus I have to keep this truck another damn because they left early.
I have to be out by Monday, and now I’m left dealing with damaged walls, repainting, and the risk of losing my deposit. Am I wrong for not wanting to pay them? The damaged my walls on all four floors plus the two at my new place. Plus they didn’t move everything, I still have lots to move from all floors.
I’d ask my parrot for advice
This reminds me of this one time OP where my mover claimed he couldn't move some of my furniture so he was f***ing dragging it down the stairs and scratching it up
And when we confronted him about it he just drove off and left?? most unprofessional s*** ever.
Wait so they damaged the walls and are trying to make you pay for it? I don’t understand
You really gotta do your research with moving companies, can’t just hire any company willy nilly and expect things to go smoothly
Don't pay them niggas. They weren't professional and breached the contract. And underperformed. I might give em $200, $150 max just to remain in good faith but they f***ed it up. The owner of the business probably just picked up a couple guys to get the job done (a company randomly paid me $150 to move stuff out of someone's house). And that part is fine, but the business owner gotta make sure his employees aren't sloppy, or he risks the bag he worked so lazily to get.
Gotta suffer consequences in order to learn.
yeah OP you should definitely stiff a bunch of dudes who frequently lift refrigerators and washing machines
Even if the put a big a******* in the wall, it's not gonna cost thousands to fix

Lmao I clicked on the thread to link OP to this one
An all-timer for me

The spackle tariffs are here and they are real
it’s your word versus theirs. file a file a claim in magistrate court for services not properly rendered and keep it pushing
Need a pic of damage before I can pick a side
Here are some examples of my walls at the old place. This is the type of damage that’s on all four floors.

The crazy thing is they aren’t even a professional company. It’s just a dude I ran into in Lowe’s and his homie. I met them two years ago when I needed help moving and these dudes offered to help, they really just a handyman, so there is no contract. Ive been the one paying for the Uhaul and doing majority of the work, they don’t deserve anything close to $600.
Now they are upset and saying that we are going to “part ways.” I was going to pay them something, but now they aren’t going to fix my walls and I have to be out by tomorrow.

I'd give a lil something just so your ducks are in a row
