  • Idk about all that but I don't go out of my way or get excited about his albums anymore. I just haven't liked a full project of his in years other than a handful of songs

His "untouchable" image has definitely taken a turn tho

He should drop the Drake character and become a dancehall/latin-pop singer honestly. Call himself...Aubré

Until today Drake threads took a break the past few days it's mostly been condom threads, or threads that got instantly condomized

    Condom eyes
    Condomize
    Condom lies

I kinda had OP's reaction and stopped listening to him when Her Loss dropped. I felt like he was going to deep in that fake persona and the music sounded forced and generic. For All the Dogs confirmed what I was feeling. There's a couple good songs here and there (even released this year) but I never have a desire to revisit them. The beef was just the final nail in the coffin for me.

I'll always enjoy some classics but most of his music sounds catered to a teenage / immature audience so if I'll ever revisit it in the future it will be for nostalgia value

Said it before and I’ll say it again, Drake needs to develop a serious heroin habit before recording any more music. This would be the best possible career move for him.

He would produce a deranged, dark, d***ged out experimental album that would be praised. He’d give grizzly accounts of life and the situations he gets into while being a fiend, and hustling pills on the side to fuel his addiction as people begin to distance themselves from him. Soon it would come out about his addiction and the media would be buzzing. Scandal after scandal would arise and he’d be the most talked about person in the world as he continues down this dark path of addiction and insanity. Then, he would get arrested for possession and do a stint in jail, adding credibility to the hard image he’s been trying to adopt for sometime. The #FreeDrake movement would be like nothing we’ve ever seen before and it would spark an international conversation about how we treat addicts (rehabilitative vs punitive punishment.

Drake would get out, get clean, and become the face of the opiate epidemic sweeping North America, opening him up to even wider audiences and platforms. His first album after release would sell a million first week and be praised, as Drizzy explores a whole new realm of lyrical content reflecting on his past degenerate behavior and becomes a symbol of hope for millions dealing with addiction. This would be great for his image, solidify him as one of the greatest rappers ever, and create worldwide change that benefits millions for years to come.

The best possible thing drake could do for his career is to start doing as much dog food as possible, as soon as possible.

What you problematized is normal, friend. Many artists that I listened to a lot as a teenager no longer have my attention.

whenever i see this very normal sentiment, i have to laugh at the absolute outrage cause by that one Lorde lyric about growing out of music you may have once loved.

Nope, actually appreciate more how prolific some of it was

Albeit, the "prolific" part maybe due to knowledge he held about these gentlemen before hand

  • Imagine listening to drake in 2024

  • Tbh, the amount of stake ads and leaning into streamer culture has had a bigger impact on how I view him than the battle did.

I’ve generally listened to him less since the beef but i havent tried to process why

    Maybe the facade is shattered

Yeah he used to be in my top 3 like every single year but I seriously have barely listened to him this year, not even mostly by choice either

This thread spot on for his 2018-onward music, s*** sound the like exact type music a late 30s pill head afraid of getting old would be making

But I can not press play on The Ride and not think he one of the swaggiest rappers to ever live

Just needs to drop a quality project and I believe he will be in the good graces of a lot of people who are saying otherwise. I think it’s a very small minority of people who just outright don’t like him because of the beef really just was the most prominent of multiple things people have taken issue with like quality, volume, content etc

    That’s fair.
I do kinda wonder what it says about me that I let the beef affect how I view the music.
Idk, I feel like artists as big as Drake become brands in a way; and the brand just got tarnished. It sucks because it’s such a cynical way to look at art, but yeah

    It means ur a casual

Is anyone else having weird feelings about listening to his music post beef?
It’s not guilt per say, I don’t feel like I’m being immoral. It just feels… uncool. All his R&B stuff is fine, but the raps feel… hollow.
I wouldn’t judge anyone for still enjoying his stuff, he’s made a lot of great music, but I still just feel a little embarrassed when I listen to his stuff.
I am genuinely asking this question because I am curious if this is a common thing or a me problem, not to knock on Drake or his fans. I could just be shallow and this is just me. But maybe not. Let’s find out!
Please, let’s try to keep discussion productive!

nah his verses 2015-2020 are still peak. only the beef songs hit a little less because he lost. SOD is still fire. circadian rythm too.
