I personally think IYRTITL and Take Care are better but NWTS is definitely a classic and a masterpiece as well. Love how the album literally sounds like Toronto during this time of the year. Just an amazing project in every way.

Funny you mention Take Care, that album came out when I was in 7th grade and I hadn’t really gotten into albums yet. My childhood friend loved it tho so I was around it often

NWTS is really my first Drake album so that’s a big part of why it’s special to me.

I think I like IYRTITL more just for how cohesive and consistent it is but NWTS has some really special moments

I don’t think there’s a better example in the 2010s of a modern approach to classic hip-hop. A song like furthest thing has that rnb rap/sing style and then transitions into just absolutely classic sample heavy rap. You have the Wu-tang appreciation, Jay on Pound Cake etc. it all feels like this very modern and relevant and commercial but not too commercial take on 90s hip-hop combined with the heavy sampling of the 00s
