    All this thread showed:
-- there are people who will erase your black identity if they don't like you/your music.

Y'all are on some other level pathetic

And the white people who are twisting the meaning of him doing a black project and trying to put their input are another level of weirdo.

    STUFF

Yo this is why I'm so confused about the whole thing

    First it's a brand shoot
Then it's simply a photography shoot directed by Drake
    Now it's a short film?

Is the photo in the film? I'll watch it now

The photo isn't in the film, it's more of a medaphor or some s***.

Drake and his friend both went to the same audition. Drake audition was trash, but he was playing more of the stereotypical black guy.

The friend did great, but he was doing the opposite.

In the end Drake ended up getting the role. So just like minstrel shows would just play stereotypes of black people back then, I guess that's how auditioning as black actors felt for them

    Theory

I mean, XXXTentacion (I’ll put allegedly because I’m not trynna argue) beat a woman and sexually assaulted her with barbecue utensils and still did well commercially. They tried to cancel him and cheered when he died but he didn’t seem to actually lose any popularity, just gained angry comments on social media.

you could probably make a point that cancel culture is going harder on a woman of color for having a kink for racists, than a man who physically and sexually harmed women of color, therefore cancel culture is holding WOC to a higher standard and in turn revealing that they’ve been sexist in their response

Or xxxtentacions fanbase is less aligned with "cancel culture" than doja cat's more pop fanbase lmaooo
