all of the old film bro directors are dying or retiring, and this kinda stuff just isnt what people are looking for. you can have a sexy raunchy dramedy that explores manipulation, but u gotta have actual writers on ur team who can dissect these issues

they ditched that and went for a sleazefest and was surprised when no one was for it.

if you do this kinda show in 2014 with that weeknd image as a limited series with less famous names, it would be a flawed cult classic no doubt, warts and all.

this show was the final straw for a realization that was years in the making. the weeknd persona can't be commercial top 5 streaming artist in the world and be true to the original ethos of the project in todays climate.

this is the same guy who regularly did r kelly covers during his shows. he's a powerhouse talent, but the conflict within his brand was only cared about by diehards (me) but the show was like this tension finally coming to the mainstream. the weeknd cant really exist as it did 10 years ago, now.
